Each Wednesday since the start of the academic year Joyce Frankland Academy have been running a Games Club after school in the library.
In January of this year a team of our students became regional champions at a game called Warhammer, a clear demonstration that the levels of literacy, numeracy, tactical ability and resilience within this group are prodigious.
As Regional Champions, the students, who are all in Key Stage 3, then competed in the national semi-finals held in Nottingham on 28th March.
They were placed a very creditable twelfth position at that event, having faced opponents who were typically much older and more experienced than themselves.
Our students were exemplary in terms of their behaviour and each one has demonstrated excellent literacy, numeracy, insight and independence.
Thank you to each of them, as well as their parents/carers, for taking part in the competition. We are already looking forward to preparations for next year!
