U16 Rugby Essex Plate Final
Posted On: 30/04/19
2019 has, without doubt, been a hugely successful year for the Joyce Frankland U16 Rugby Team and to top it all off they recently played in the Essex Plate Final.
The academy has been entering teams into the Essex Plate competition for over twenty years and this year, for the first time ever, our U16 team made it to the final where they faced William Edwards School from Grays.
At half-time William Edwards School were 26-7 up, but the Joyce Frankland team fought back in the second half and, with just five minutes to go, had narrowed the gap to five points. A late try from the opposition, however, saw William Edwards School go on to win 36-26.
On their way to the final, the Joyce Frankland team beat two other schools: De La Salle 38-15 and Fitzwimarc 19-17.
Throughout the whole competition, the team were a real credit to the academy, not only in terms of their sporting prowess but, just as importantly, in the way they conducted themselves before, during and after each game.
Thanks also go to Mr Sansom who gave up his time to coach and transport the team to matches!
Well Done, boys!
