Posted On: 14/10/19
On Wednesday 9th October Joyce Frankland Academy played host to more than twenty local businesses and education and training providers at an Apprenticeships Evening for local schools. Some 500 students, staff and parents from Joyce Frankland Academy, Saffron Walden County High School, Helena Romanes School and Forest Hall attended the event which was generously sponsored by MAG Stansted Airport. Their representative, Alex Smith thanked the school for hosting the event and added, 'I have to say, it was one of the best careers events I have been to in a while in terms of engagement, I talked pretty much non-stop!'.
The event was organised by the Uttlesford 14-19 Group - a consortium of local schools and colleges of further education, working together to provide the best opportunities for local students. Employers are keen to continue to work with the group and many asked to be invited to the next event.
Following the event, the Principal of Joyce Frankland Academy, Duncan Roberts, commented, 'It was an honour and privilege to host, for the first time, the Uttlesford 14-19 Group Apprenticeship Evening at Joyce Frankland Academy, Newport and welcome students from schools and colleges across North West Essex. It is a duty that we take very seriously to ensure that all young people across our region are provided with meaningful encounters with companies and institutions who can offer career prospects, opportunities and inspiration to help them frame their futures. We look forward to welcoming back companies and young people again very soon!'
