The girls U18 hockey team won the 2015 Bishop Stortford and District Hockey Cup tournament.
It was a triangular cup tournament between Saffron Walden County High, Hockerill and Joyce Frankland Academy. Joyce Frankland Academy played Saffron Walden County High School in their first game. The match was very even at the start with both sides making strong attacks and being made to take evasive defensive action.
As the game commenced the Joyce Frankland Academy attacks gained in strength and the Saffron Walden County High struggled to deal with them. The final score was 3 - 1.
Their next game was against Hockerill, the game was dominated by Joyce Frankland Academy from the start, with our attackers dominating the game of play. In the second half Hockerill got more into the game testing the Joyce Frankland Academy defence. The final score was 4 - 0, making Joyce Frankland Academy the overall winners of the U18 District Cup.
U15 Bishop Stortford and District Hockey Cup Winners 2015
Congratulations to the girls U15 Hockey team for winning their district for the 4th consecutive year.
They played 3 games in total against Saffron Walden County High, Hockerill and Helena Romanas winning all three with 1 - 0, 1 - 0 and 4 - 0 results. All matches tested the team and two of the games could have gone to a draw as Bronwyn Evans (Goalkeeper) was forced to make saves in the last few minutes of two of the games. Lily May Anderson and Katie Pearson McGeorge worked tirelessly on the wings making endless runs down the line for Eve Wharton, Lauren Abraham Milton and Beth Breen in the goal. Maddy Barker and Jess Clive worked hard in the centre midfield to dominate the play in the middle. Georgia Bozianu kept her defensive teams; Alice Shickell, Megan Porter , Eva Wells, Alex West and Gemma Francis, marking tight to prevent any strong attacks from the opposition. The whole team should be pleased to be crowned the Bishop Stortford and District Hockey Cup winners 2015 as they truly deserve the title.

The U14's came second in the U14 Cambridgeshire hockey tournament at Kimbolton on 8th October, coming second to a very strong Perse team. This saw us through to the semi's to face local rivals Saffron Walden County High School, to which we beat them 3 - 0. We found ourselves up against The Perse who had gained in strength over the course of the day and beat us 3 - 0.
Top goal scorers were Mads Newitt and Emily Pretious and some super defending by Santine Alexander and Hettie Garnham in goal. As we came second we are through to the Regional tournament which is being held on Thursday 12th November at Bedford.

The U16 girl’s team won the Cambridgeshire hockey tournament. The tournament was organised in two pools. We won all our pool games and came top in the pool; playing Kings Ely 3 - 0, St Ivo 7 - 0, Leys 2 - 0 and Thomas Deacon Academy 2 - 0. We played Perse who came 2nd place in the other pool in the semi finals. We had a convincing 4 - 0 win which meant we were through to the East Regional Hockey finals; two teams from each area go through to the regional’s. There was still the matter of the final to be played and we were up against The Leys; who we had already played and beaten in the pools. The opposition started strong and went 1 - 0 up. This was the first goal that had been scored against us all day and it was the kick that we needed to get our girls to play some good hockey. We soon took hold of the game and dominated the play. The forwards worked tirelessly hassling the Leys defence into making mistakes. We soon scored two goals putting the final score as 2 - 1 and making us the overall winners of the Cambridgeshire area. The next Regional’s tournament is being held at Holcombe in Kent on Thursday 19th November.
