    Faraday Challenge

    Posted On: 16/12/16

On Tuesday 13th December 2016 the Academy hosted a Faraday Challenge day. Sponsored by the Institute of Engineers and Technology, hundreds of schools apply and only a select few are chosen to take part. The Faraday Challenge is a national engineering competition that asks students to work together in a team of six to come up with a solution to a specific engineering problem. This year the challenge was focused on coding a BBC micobit and involved teams of Year 8 pupils. We invited three local schools (Soham Village College, St Mary’s Catholic School and Castle Manor) to compete against three of our own teams.

All of our students taking part in the day were excellent ambassadors for the Academy. The ideas, coding and presentations from our own Year 8 students were outstanding!

We were extremely unfortunate to come 2nd place to St Mary’s by only two points. However, all the students on the day demonstrated incredible team work and problem solving skills. There are definitely some engineers of the future.
