Joyce Frankland Academy, Newport is delighted with the impressive achievements of their G.C.S.E. students of 2018. Many students achieved well beyond expectation; unfortunately, too many to mention all of them individually. However, we would like to celebrate the following students’ achievements.

Santine Alexander achieved 8 grades at 7-9 including grade 9s in Art, French and Latin. Santine has been an exceptional student at Joyce Frankland, Newport throughout her five years and has demonstrated the Academy’s values of imagination, inquisitiveness, insightfulness and independence.

Like Santine, Tom Clarke has also excelled across his subject portfolio with 8 grades between 7-9. Tom achieved a grade 9 in Biology, Maths and Physics as well as an A* in Italian. Tom’s success is testament to his diligence and excellent attitude learning and the hard work of his teachers.

Another student who deserves acknowledgement is Elizabeth Kesterton who achieved top grades in a range of subjects including grade 9s in English language, English literature and History. Elizabeth has not only excelled academically but also contributed to the wider academy culture throughout her time with us.

Jamie Carr is also a student who performed at an extremely high level. Jamie achieved 9 G.C.S.Es all at 7-9 grades. This includes grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science and Physics. Lastly, Samantha Anderson also achieved 8 G.C.S.Es at 7-8, including an A* in Computer Technology and grade 8s in English literature and Spanish.

So many of our students have made excellent progress and achieved results that they can be proud of, that it is a huge challenge to choose only a few to mention. Outgoing Principal, Gordon Farquhar stated, ‘It is excellent to see so many of our year 11 students achieving such great success. As I have said many times, this year group is the one that I started my time at Newport with and I am thrilled with the way in which they have embraced the challenges of the new curriculum. I would also thank all the staff for their contribution and dedication to this year group’s great success.’
