FAO Parents/Carers of our new Y7s (Sept 2017 Intake)
Joyce Frankland Academy Year 7 Induction Day – Monday 10th July 8.30am
Induction day is fast approaching; here is some important information
about the day.
The day starts 8.30am and our new Y7 students are to assemble promptly at
the sports hall. Signage will be available and prefects will be also be
present to direct our new students.
Please note that the roads near to school, in particular Bury Water Lane
will be extremely busy so please allow ample time and please drop off
rather than park up.
All students will need to bring their PE kit as they are all timetabled for
a PE lesson. They also need a pencil case with at least a pen and pencil;
other equipment will be provided on the day as necessary. They should all
please bring with them their completed About Me Booklets.
They can either bring a packed lunch or cash which can be used in the
canteen (or a bit of both if they choose!) The Biometric finger print
payment system will not be available until September; if you have yet to
return the green Biometric permission form, please send this in with your
child on the day.
There will be a Welcome Talk for Parents in the main hall at 2.15pm with
refreshments being available from 1.45pm. Gray Palmer, our uniform supplier
will also be present from 1.45pm; ties and socks in house colours can be
purchased with cash on the day and a student house list will be available
If you are coming by car to the Welcome Talk, please park in the main car
park near to the Sixth Form Block which is the first turning on the right
hand side Bury Water Lane when approached from Cambridge Road. Please note
that to accommodate the parents/carers attending the talk, we will ensure
that as many parking spaces are available as possible by arranging for
staff and sixth formers to park elsewhere, however, there will only be
approximately 70/80 spaces. As such, we ask you to consider car sharing
where possible. Overflow parking will, however, be available on the Academy
field if required.
The children will be brought to meet their parents/carers at the main hall
at 3pm, which is when the day then ends.
We very much look forward to Monday and hope that the children are too!
